The Baptist Faith and Message, which Bayshore Baptist Church adopted long ago as its Articles of Faith, begins with these words: “The Holy Bible was written by men divinely inspired and is God’s revelation of Himself to man. It is a perfect treasure of divine instruction. It has God for its author, salvation for its end, and truth, without any mixture of error, for its matter.” Have you thought or been asked why certain books were left out of the Bible? There are many books that some believe should be in the Bible, but are not. What about the book of Thomas or the book of Enoch? Why are they not in the Bible? Why and how was the Bible as we know it assembled into one book? What was the criteria? How were the books canonized? It’s OK to ask questions. It’s OK to have doubts. Seeking out answers to these questions, and others, can lead to a deepening of faith. Pastor Ben will help us to answer these questions, and more. So, is the Bible reliable? Can we rely on what it says? Listen to today’s message and decide for yourself.
