Should it come as any surprise when we are ridiculed and/or scorned for being followers of Christ? It certainly wouldn’t surprise Paul and the disciples. Paul shared the Gospel wherever he went, and he desperately wanted the Jewish people (his people) to come to a saving faith in Jesus Christ. But, who were the ones coming to faith in ever-increasing numbers? The Gentiles! As the Book of Acts draws to a close, Paul quotes from the prophet Isaiah in Acts 28:25-27. …“The Holy Spirit was right in saying to your fathers through Isaiah the prophet: “‘Go to this people, and say, “You will indeed hear but never understand, and you will indeed see but never perceive.” For this people’s heart has grown dull, and with their ears they can barely hear, and their eyes they have closed; lest they should see with their eyes and hear with their ears and understand with their heart and turn, and I would heal them.’
